Portfolios - Head shots - Editorial - Documentary - Music - Sports - Special Events

Photography is the primary medium by which Holly Tomlin chooses to chronicle her personal experiences and document current events. It is also the way she engages people and helps promote community-based organizations and grassroots efforts that strive to provide alternative resources for educational pursuits, break stereotypes by spotlighting men and women who have taken small ideas and turned them into institutions and business models, and expose people to different parts of the country (US) and world. Photography helps Holly to connect people from different cultural backgrounds, careers, philanthropic and altruistic pursuits. More importantly, photography helps her to connect with ideas, places, and stories she may not have otherwise considered. In the current climate of confusion, photography along with the use of technology, has the potential to change the way in which culture, particularly whole communities, are depicted, understood, and documented. One could say that Holly is most passionate about representation in the same way that is described by Frederick Douglass, probably the most photographed American of his time, who understood the power and necessity of the image to change the perceptions about black Americans if to no other than for him/herself.

Holly was recently featured in an article for the Adorama Learning Center.
